Biscuit Factory

At the Biscuit Factory in Bermondsey, Julija was engaged to review a temporary works proposal by another engineer, which specified over 1,000 Titan props to support the edges of an existing reinforced concrete slab for the creation of new openings. Drawing on her extensive experience in structural design, Julija assessed the slab construction and determined that the floor could safely accommodate openings in specific areas without the need for excessive propping. She optimised the opening sizes and fully eliminated the requirement for over 1,000 props, leading to significant time and cost savings. Her subsequent work included advising on the demolition methodology for cantilever slabs with walls above, assessing global stability due to the removal of a shear wall, and designing individual supports for existing RC beams where columns were taken out.
