Battersea Power Station

At Battersea Power Station, one of London’s most iconic historic buildings constructed in two stages between the early and late 1930s, Julija was tasked with carrying out an independent review of retained steel columns to verify the design assumptions made by the main engineer. The building, originally a coal-fired power station with a distinctive Art Deco design and four prominent chimneys, was undergoing extensive redevelopment. Julija conducted detailed structural checks, comparing the capacities of the steel columns using both historical codes and modern British Standards. Her analysis accounted for changes in load demands and restraint conditions on the columns, ensuring the safety and integrity of the structure under the updated usage requirements.
